He is Strongest in my weakness…

In the pressing matters of my upcoming move I have found myself very inadequate.  My spirit has been burdened with my lack of ability to meet up to my own expectations.  I have been down and depressed.  It doesn’t help that the day has been gloomy.

I should be packing, but I have been sewing bibs for baby showers of close friends, which I love dearly.  I turned the radio on and immersed myself in just enjoying the moment, to forget my pity party. But, in doing so, while listening to very uplifting Christian music, from Klove radio (Klove.com), I was reminded by God that He shines brightest when it is darkest, in my life.

(Light bulb moment, again!)

It really, sucks (excuse my frankness) to feel like we are not enough to meet our family’s needs, or our friends expectations sometimes, and especially our perceptions of God’s expectations for us.  BUT, if we are transparent and aren’t afraid of what others “might think” or say, then God’s redemptive attributes will be seen and He will draw others to Him…which is the whole point of my purpose in life, as His child.  I want to make Him known more so that others, who might be feeling down and trodden or feel rejected by those closest to them,  can reach for Him and be rescued from their seemingly hopeless situation.

With God, NOTHING IS HOPELESS!

Jesus died for us while we weren’t enough and that is the point of Easter or the Resurrection.  He was the complete and perfect sacrifice for us, for anyone who is willing to repent and turn to Him to make them complete, enough.

I am writing this so that anyone out there in the “world wide web” might know that we are not supposed to be perfect, just have a broken and contrite spirit, to have an eternal purpose in this life and the next.

If you don’t have a close and personal relationship with the One True God, I want to encourage you to seek Him.  He says in His holy bible, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

See for yourself the hope and true life that is available to you, through what Jesus did for you on the cross.  Go to http://www.peacewithgod.net and visit my website at http://www.socorrogill.com to see how He has moved in my life.

How many moms feel like you are “just a mom” and that is sometimes what is keeping you from living the life that God has called you to?

In the motion picture, “Mom’s Night Out” there is a very intriguing natural event that a couple of the main characters find fascinating.  In the midst of their daily mundane life they are drawn in to a live streaming of the life of a new mother eagle caring for it’s young.  They seem to almost envy or want to be the calm and seemingly happy bird.

After watching the movie two times now, I have come to the conclusion that maybe the reason why they are drawn to it is because they envy her.  The mama eagle is “just” doing her job and at the same time they are also trying to do theirs, but they don’t know how to find that peace and contentment that this creature has almost mastered.  It seems that they can’t figure out that it is what she was called to do by her creator and that is why she doesn’t appear to be struggling, unlike at least one of them.  (Light bulb moment!)

The mama eagle is being “just a mom”, yet she looks majestic and at the same time content at what she is doing.  She is doing one of the main things she was created to do and she is not wrestling with it, unlike the main character.

God has a purpose and a plan for everything He’s created even though we don’t always understand it.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9

How many of us don’t get it?  How many of us struggle with being “just a mom” because we doubt that it is what God called us to do as one of our primary purposes?  He gave us the ability to bring life into this world, yet we sometimes feel like there has to be more to our life than just being a mom.  Isn’t it enough that we hold the future in our hands and have the privilege of molding and shaping them into the image of Christ, like God made us in His image and to reflect himself to the world.

Moms, I challenge you to not doubt that God has other plans for you, but to first and foremost embrace, like the mama eagle, the present situation that He has enabled you to be in and to truly love the children and spouse that Providence has allowed, by focusing on that “job” first.  Then, as time, energy and providence allows, seek God’s further will in your life by prayer and supplication, what He might have for you to do when the more time consuming years of mothering slow down a bit .

That is how we will find fulfillment in our daily happenings and “live the life” that He has called us to!

As I watched them watch the bird, I came to realize that there are many moms that are in similar situations who feel the same way.  They haven’t found what the natural world around us already has, their purpose and acceptance of their role in this world and secondly, contentment.
Because of that restlessness, we as moms, sometimes end up looking for fulfillment outside of our “nest” or home at the cost of our babies.  And, unfortunately we have also damaged our family life in the process.

But, there is hope!  If we realize that is where we are at, then we can still do something about it.  We can stop and reevaluate our situation and start from there, moving ahead and not looking back.  God’s mercies are new everyday!  So let us start afresh!  With God’s help and the empowering of the Holy Spirit we can do that!
