Set your paths straight…Between a “Rock (Jesus) and a Hard Place (Home)

In the last few weeks I have been reminded, in my spirit, that if I want to get the rewards, I need to stand firm in what I believe in and not give up “no matter what”.  I believe that is applicable to anything in life.

Home schooling has never been really easy, but it has been educational, fun and life changing, for the better.

Moving from Colorado to New Jersey hasn’t been easy either, but it holds the promise of being educational, fun (once we can get the schedule and finances in place), and a ministry to women and moms, locally and globally

Nothing ever worth doing is easy.  In the movie “The Mighty Macs”, one of the main characters, the Mother Superior at Immaculata College, tells Cathy Rush, the future coach, “Without the pain, there is no glory” (paraphrase).

The reason I am sharing this with you is because I have felt pain physically and emotionally every time I have attempted to do something worth doing, like home schooling, witnessing to the lost, and especially mothering.  All these callings are worth doing, but they come at a cost, like most things worth investing in for eternity.

Last night I came to a crossing, yet again (this is not the first time, nor the last).  I was emotionally torn because I really didn’t feel like going on any more, I felt like quitting lots of things.  BUT, if I quit, what glory will there be for me or my family, friends…Furthermore, what glory will God get through my pitiful life?  He will get a lot more if I live for Him than if I live for myself.

It isn’t easy sharing this with you.  But I believe it’s worth doing because I have spoken to other moms like me who struggle, and they need to know that they are not alone, so I can’t be the only one who gets down and feels like life is too hard to keep trying to do what is right or best for the present blessings and eternal rewards.

When I first became a Christian, follower of God through Christ, I admitted that I could not do life on my own and live it for a greater, eternal purpose.

I confessed with my mind, heart and mouth that I am a sinner, in need of repentance, believed that Jesus IS God’s one and only son, and confessed my faith in Jesus Christ as Savior by being publicly submersed in water, to signify dying to my old life and gaining new life in Christ.

Sometimes I think we need to be reminded of that. Jesus said (paraphrasing again) that He came to those that know they need to be saved, not for those that don’t even know they need a savior.  We are being saved from God’s wrath.  He is going to take care of all the wrongs that have been committed by man (and the devil and his angels) once and for all.  He’s going to bring all things to justice because He is a just God.

So, when we feel like life isn’t fair, we can look at what Jesus did on the cross and see that it wasn’t fair for Him either and we can keep on living with a bigger purpose in our hearts.

So, in the mean time we must tell others what He has done for us so they too may not perish, but instead have the opportunity to make their own choice to accept Him or reject Him.  So, let’s not forget that and LIVE for Him to be glorified!

We have a God that is bigger than our problems!  I am going to continue to believe that because if I don’t finish the race that I started on that rebirth, then I won’t gain the prize that is waiting for those who finish.  I don’t want to barely finish the race, but finish well!!

How are you feeling today?  Nothing is too big for God. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight.”

According to that verse I don’t have to believe my limited thoughts and give in to my fears.  IF I do what He says, I will reap the rewards, just like with anything else in life.

I will leave you with these final words that help me to stay focused when the pressures of life get me down.

“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.  Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.  Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:25-27

I published the post below exactly 4 months ago. As I am writing this I can not begin to tell you all the things God has done to bring me to where I am today. BUT, I can tell you that God is faithful in fulfilling His biblical truths in my life.

We are getting ready to entertain a couple, a friend of Troy’s, with his wife and kids, from his college years. They only live about 40 minutes away, which is awesome!

In the details of creating an environment that is inviting for everyone and preparing for the feast we want to share with them, I was impressed by God’s Spirit that my “Home”; where I give my all, to meet the needs of my family, my chosen lot in life; that is where my “Hard” place is!

It makes so much sense to me now!!! In the coming weeks and months I will be sharing more about what God is doing through me and in our family to encourage other families to “live the life” that He has for us. I am more certain now, than I have ever been, that it’s His will for me to remain faithful to Him in EVERY speck of my home life, as a wife, mother, and Christian.

God’s light is going to shine brighter through our family because I am staying “Between a Rock (Jesus) and a hard place, Home”!

Please be praying for us specifically; that His ways would be our ways, and His thoughts would be our thoughts; to seek His Kingdom first, so all that we need for this earth will be provided.
