Ouch, that is truth that hurts, but ohhhhh how freeing it is!
How many times have I showed my annoyance at my children? Too many times to count! But thank God that his mercies are new everyday because I mess up a lot.
Don’t beat yourself up on this one moms. Repent and reconcile yourself with God and your children. Look at why you’re feeling annoyed and ask yourself if it’s because you lack patience with them or if it’s something else.
If you lack patience, go back to God for help. Love is patient according to the bible. If we aren’t being patient, then we aren’t loving our children like we are called. I have been guilty of this many times, and probably will be again, so I know that it’s hard.
If you ask your children for forgiveness then they can see that you do care, even though it doesn’t always appear that way. Confess to them that it wasn’t right of you to be rude and annoyed at them. Admit that you’ve done wrong. Dare to go as far as asking them to pray for you! That will show that you value them.
One of my girls has actually made it a habit of praying for me on the spot! It is humbling, but that is the God I want them to see; a God who is transparent and forgiving. Jesus didn’t just die for one or one thousand of ours iniquities, He died for them all!! Praise God.
So, I leave you with this challenge for today, to examine yourself to see what is the cause of the annoyance of your heart. Is it because you’re tired, hungry, feeling down about your current life situation or are you chronically ill? Then go to God and bow down, in your heart, and ask Him for forgiveness and wisdom to do better at loving your children and anyone else, for that matter. Then get help from family or friends who you trust. We aren’t meant to do this alone.
P.S. I wrote this post months ago, but I’m barely uploading it because it was hard to admit I am not perfect, to myself. I want to show you my faults so that in turn, you, who are reading this can know that God already knows that and He loves you anyway. So, if you don’t have a personal relationship with Him already, what are you waiting for? He is at the door of your heart knocking to let Him in and lead you to a life of forgiveness and redemption! Let Him In! Go to http://www.peacewithgod.net to see the steps you can take to start walking with God through faith in Jesus Christ. When you do that, please let me know so I can rejoice with you!
